CARMEL, Ind., Feb. 13 -ACES Power Marketing (APM) -- APM, a nationally recognized wholesale energy risk management and transaction execution service company, has again expanded the geographic scope of its ISO/RTO services. APM has successfully installed and tested The Structure Group's nMarket(R) software product -- including a test of the settlement module -- for the new Southwest Power Pool (SPP) market. When SPP's Energy Imbalance Service (EIS) launches in May of 2006, APM will offer the same cutting edge services to current and prospective customers -- including municipal utilities, cooperatives, financial institutions and industrial plants -- as it currently offers in PJM, MISO and ERCOT. APM uses nMarket(R) in each of these regions.
The SPP-led connectivity testing, part of ongoing market trials, provided market participants the opportunity to test in a scripted environment their ability to submit and query Resource Plans, Ancillary Service Plans and EIS Offer Curves, and also to download Settlement Statements. During the testing, APM verified that it could successfully operate within the parameters specified by SPP. Completion of this stage of SPP's rigorous Participant Readiness Testing builds on APM's track record of successful testing and integration in other pool type markets.
"The nMarket(R) software products allow us to provide a broad menu of services to our owners and customers in ISO and RTO markets across North America, including bid-to-bill capabilities for physical energy, ancillary services, transmission rights, and capacity products," said APM Vice President and Chief Information Officer Annette Stamatkin. "Time and time again, The Structure Group has proven its ability to respond proactively and quickly to the changing markets. The flexibility of their products fits into our strategy for serving our members' comprehensive physical power needs in every market."
"APM has now successfully implemented nMarket(R) to serve their client needs across four regional markets," Structure principal David Shepheard said. "APM's model of offering cost effective risk management and transaction execution services has proven to be a winning combination with nMarket(R)'s depth of trading, scheduling, dispatch and settlements functionality. We look forward to working together closely as APM's business evolves in other regional markets across North America."
ACES Power Marketing, headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, began its operations in February of 1999 and is owned by fifteen power supply cooperatives. It also provides services to over 30 additional customers including cooperatives, municipals, financial institutions, power marketers, and merchant power producers.
APM's business strategy is unique in the energy marketing and trading industry. It operates as an energy risk management and hedge manager, developing strategies, implementing trading controls, and managing transaction execution for multiple entities as their legal agent. APM's business process allows its customers to actively participate in the hedging strategy by collectively utilizing APM's infrastructure and resources to assess risks and execute specific, customized portfolio strategies. APM does not transact for its own account, nor does it speculate in the market for its owners or customers.
The Structure Group is a leading provider of energy trading business solutions and consulting services to market participants in North America and Europe.
