MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 8 - APA Cables & Networks (APACN), a leader in fiber management solutions and a wholly owned subsidiary of APA Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: APAT), today announced that Foothills Rural Telephone Cooperative Corporation has installed the APA Cables & Networks fiber management platform for their Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) network. The deployment, one of the largest in the southeastern U.S., has been designed to overbuild Foothills' entire 16,000 access line network serving northeastern Kentucky.

Foothills selected the APA Cables & Networks Fiber Distribution System (FDS) because of the density requirements of their network. After a series of consultations between the network engineers at Foothills and the design engineers at APACN, APACN delivered a product specification that addressed Foothills unique requirements for planar splitter and WDM chassis deployment. APACN product is used alongside an FTTP solution from Alcatel.
"The APACN design team was like an extension of my own engineering group," explains Lonny Kelly, plant manager at Foothills Rural Telephone. "Not only was the solution provided by APACN the densest deployment of fiber management in the market, but when I placed the order with APACN, I felt they knew my network as good as my own team."
APACN's FDS is a product line of high density, easy access fiber distribution frames and panels. The FDS is designed to reduce the cost of deployment by reducing installation times through easy fiber access and industry-leading traceability. The product line fully supports a wide range of panel configurations, densities, connectors, and adapter options and is offered alongside a wide range of optical components that can be utilized on a stand-alone basis or integrated into the panel system.
APACN's line of fiber management solutions has been designed to the full range of Telcordia's demanding telecommunications standards, and to the unique requirements of FTTP installations championed by today's innovative independent telephone, television and municipal networks.
