PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 12 -Building on its momentum of technology innovation and sales success in the wireless marketplace, Airgo Networks, Inc, today announced a True MIMO partnership with Corega K.K., Japan's leading network equipment supplier. Now shipping in Japan, Corega's MIMO router CG-WLBARGM-P and MIMO card CG-WLCB108GM offer the performance and reliability of a True MIMO-based product at a price comparable to much lower performing non-MIMO devices. The products will also be available across Asia and Europe.
"The demand for better wireless performance -- greater data speed, improved coverage area -- is growing rapidly," said Greg Raleigh, president and CEO of Airgo Networks. "By creating a True MIMO-powered wireless solution at a competitive price Corega and Corega group are bringing best-in-class speed, range and reliability to consumers across Europe, Japan and other parts of Asia."
In tests conducted in an actual home comparing Corega's True MIMO-powered solutions to other mid-range "enhanced" Wi-Fi products, benchmark results show that the CG-WLBARGM-P consistently provides higher throughput and maintains high-speed connections in locations where the other products fail to connect. In addition to delivering higher performance, Corega's first MIMO product is expected to debut well beyond the cost performance points of other "enhanced" Wi-Fi solutions.
"Airgo's True MIMO represents the technology that will take wireless into the future," said Sho Katoh, President and CEO of Corega K.K. "Only MIMO technology delivered by Airgo possesses the performance characteristics suitable for high-value, high-bandwidth applications such as video streaming, VoIP and home entertainment networking."
Airgo is the only company to conceive, develop and deliver MIMO OFDM -- the technology at the core of the 802.11n next generation wireless LAN standard that sets a new performance standard for Wi-Fi consumers. By leveraging multipath, reflections of a radio signal, and transmitting multiple signals in a single 20MHz radio channel, Airgo's True MIMO multiplies both data rates and reliable coverage area without using additional frequency spectrum. True MIMO refers to the specific form of MIMO based on spatial multiplexing as defined by all major proposals for the next generation 802.11n standard.
About Corega K.K.
Since its foundation in 1996 in Japan, Corega has anticipated the spread of broadband services and the arrival of an advanced network society. In an IT environment that changes rapidly and dramatically due to technology innovation, Corega quickly and at reasonable prices provides products that meet the needs of the times and continues to move forward as a leading supplier of popular wireless LAN equipments and broadband routers.
About Airgo Networks, Inc.
The founders of Airgo Networks have pioneered a wireless communication technique known as Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). A breakthrough in wireless, MIMO OFDM has been adopted as the foundation for defining the new IEEE 802.11n standard for next generation Wi-Fi(R). Airgo is first-to-market with 802.11a/b/g-compliant MIMO enhanced chipset, software and reference design solutions. Now in its third generation, Airgo's True MIMO(TM) technology has surpassed the speed of wireline connections, enabling the most bandwidth-intensive applications and eliminating the need for wires at home, at work, and in public places. Founded in January 2001, the company is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, USA. Information about Airgo Networks is available at http://www.airgonetworks.com.
