SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 8 - Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR), a leader in open converged networks, has been selected once again by Korea's KT Ntopia to provide advanced Ethernet switching solutions to continue the build out of a robust broadband access network, extending a relationship that began in 2002.
Extreme Networks(R) was selected over other major competitors to provide its Alpine(R) 3808 modular gigabit Ethernet switch, enabling the delivery of converged network services that are fast and reliable. Extreme Networks, working with its channel partner, Icraft, was selected to provide KT Ntopia with more than 1,000 new switches.
KT Ntopia is a Metro Ethernet service provider offering high-speed Internet, voice and video services featuring Video on Demand (VoD) for residential apartment blocks and multi-tenant buildings. Building tenants can utilize the broadband Internet service to easily enable multiple communications at the same time. Today, more than two million residential users are actively using the service and it will now be extended to "21st century cyber apartments."

Key features of Extreme Networks' Alpine 3808 switch include: Wire-speed L2/L3 switching; protocol support for OSPF, ISIS, BGP4, and Multicast Routing; Policy-based QoS at wire speed to allocate bandwidth, and prioritize traffic; as well as IP-TDM for bounded latency transport of voice and video.
