Scopus Video-Over-IP Contribution Platforms Covered Historical Elections
TEL AVIV, Israel, January 26 - Scopus Video Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ: SCOP), a provider of digital video networking products, announced today that its IP-based platforms are providing live event coverage of the current Palestinian Authority elections. For this occasion, SatLink Communications and Palmedia, the exclusive providers of video transmission over hybrid fiber and satellite connectivity from the Palestinian authority to world wide media operators, deployed Scopus Video-over-IP (Internet Protocol) platforms, to transmit live content over IP local infrastructure and internationally via satellite networks.
Scopus' ability to provide locally originated content over IP-based contribution infrastructure for live event coverage, combined with satellite technology, makes this installation one of the world's first instances where these technologies have been merged. Emergence of this innovative hybrid system enables satellite operators to simultaneously reduce operating costs and transmit broadcast quality picture in the contribution over IP world.
Using Scopus' encoders and decoders, SatLink and Palmedia are bringing live election coverage over IP connectivity from media centers in major Palestinian cities to local production houses and internationally via satellite to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America.
SatLink's CEO David Hochner remarked, "It was important for us to deploy Scopus' platforms quickly within a tight schedule without losing the high-end performance to which SatLink is committed. We knew that Scopus' IP Solutions were well suited to this. Furthermore, we were greatly impressed by the high quality video broadcasting offered by the Forward Error Correction (FEC)-enabled E-1000 IP encoders."
According to Ovadia Cohen, Scopus' VP Marketing, "We are seeing network operators begining to migrate to video contribution over IP. The choice of Scopus' platforms to enable one of the world's first live event coverage combining IP and Satellite technologies for broadcast quality video reinforces Scopus important role in this space."
