The new site was selected based on a variety of factors, including consumer demographics, the strength of the co-tenants, traffic patterns, the availability of parking, visibility and the overall attractiveness of the new site.
The opening of the store is expected to create approximately 12 to 15 additional jobs in the local community. All employees currently at the Borders store located at Pearl Street will continue on at the new store. "We are very excited to move to Twenty Ninth Street, Boulder's newest retail and entertainment district, and be a part of the expansion there," said Adrian Tarr, district manager for Borders. "In addition to the deep selection of books, music and movies we have always offered our customers, the new store will feature a Paperchase shop, providing a wide selection of fashionable notebooks, journals, wrapping paper, greeting cards and other gifts and stationery items as well as a Seattle's Best Coffee cafe that will serve a full line of premium coffee and non-coffee beverages, including lattes, mochas and blended beverages, and a fresh food menu, featuring pastries and sandwiches. The store will continue to offer customers the opportunity to enjoy local appearances by authors and performers as well as free activities for children," continued Tarr.
