Dell Technology To Deliver Ironman Triathlon Results Worldwide, Real Time

Organizers Enlist Dell Handhelds, Workstations, Servers To Track 1,600 International Triathletes As They Swim, Bike, Run 140.6 Miles Round Rock, Texas, October 13, 2003

From the shores of Kailua Bay to the picturesque finish on Alii Drive, Dell technology will deliver Ironman Triathlon results to an Internet audience beginning with the world championship that takes place every year in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Event organizers will be outfitted with Dell handheld computers, workstations and servers to feed the information through Ironmanlive.com for the Oct. 18 competition in Hawaii, and for more than 10 qualifying and world championship events in 2003 and 2004.

For the Hawaii championships, 1,600 triathletes from nearly 50 countries will compete in a 2.4-mile ocean swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run. Ironmanlive.com is the only outlet that broadcasts the world's most challenging endurance event in real time.

"Split times, streaming video, still photography are but a few of the features fans can expect to see on the Web site."
