East-West Shrine Game Announces AT&T as Presenting Sponsor

San Antonio, Texas, January 9, 2006

When the East-West Shrine Game moves to San Antonio on January 21, 2006 after being played in San Francisco for 80 years, it will open a new chapter in the game's illustrious history.

San Antonio based AT&T Inc., which is also embarking on a new period in its company's history, has signed on as a presenting sponsor as its way of welcoming the 81st East-West Shrine Game to Texas.

"AT&T is honored to be the presenting partner of the legendary East-West Shrine Game," said Brooks McCorcle, AT&T Vice President and General Manager, San Antonio. "The game benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children across America and boosts the local economy while showcasing the nation's best football players and coaches."

The game will now be referred to as the East-West Shrine Game presented by AT&T.

"The move to San Antonio has given the game a central location reinforcing that this is a national game featuring players and coaches from all over the country coming together to help children all over the country," said Terry McGuire, a member of the national board of the Shriners Hospitals for Children. "Now as we're less than two weeks from kick-off we're thrilled to announce our partnership with AT&T as well as two rosters filled with outstanding players."

The East-West Shrine Game presented by AT&T also unveiled their new ad campaign today. The campaign reinforces that this game is about more than what happens on the field. For Asher Hartman, featured in the ad "Cards", both he and his family's lives would be drastically different without the Shriners Hospitals for Children. In fact, he might not even be in this country. When his parents were working through the adoption process and trying to bring him from China to the United State, they ran into several obstacles.

The Chinese government would not allow the adoption to take place unless the Shriners Hospitals for Children would guarantee his care when he arrived here. Today, thanks to the care he received, Asher is thriving in his new home thanks to his new prosthetic leg.

Two highlights of the game week are when the patients from the Shriners Childrens Hospital will visit the teams (Sunday, January 15 at 1 p.m. at the SBC Center) and the induction of this year's East-West Shrine Hall of Fame class. This year's inductees include Bob Lilly, Joe Greene and Raymond Berry as well as Mike Haynes. Past inductees have included President Gerald Ford, Dick Butkus and last year's special ceremony recognized Pat Tillman.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at the Player Awards dinner on Friday, January 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Alamodome. The four inductees will also be honored at halftime of the game.
